Britain’s top firms need to do more to protect themselves from online threats, according to new Government research.

The survey of the UK’s biggest 350 companies found that more than two thirds of boards had not received training to deal with a cyber incident (68 per cent) despite more than half saying cyber threats were a top risk to their business (54 per cent).

One in ten FTSE 350 companies said they operate without a response plan for a cyber incident and less than a third of boards receive comprehensive cyber risk information (31 per cent).

Minister for Digital Matt Hancock said: “These new reports show we have a long way to go until all our organisations are adopting best practice.”

We wholeheartedly agree. The statistics are alarming, to say the least, which is why we place cyber security at the heart of what we do.

This is not something that companies can ignore in the hope that it will go away. It won’t and the damage which can be caused by a security breach can be catastrophic to a business of any size.

However, by adopting a few simple precautions businesses can do so much to protect themselves. Call us on 0191 214 1750 or email info@bowe.co.uk  to find out how we can help keep you secure.
